Master's Woman's Bikini contest... yes... I may just do this in the coming year if I can manage to give up beer long enough to cut!

Help to inspire others to get fit and be consistent in their training.....Continue to love running and stay injury free while I rack up the miles....

Personal:

I have been married for almost 20 years.... Dave is the only man that I think that was placed specifically on this earth to tolerate my crazy ways.

I have 2 boys - ages 9 yrs. and 18 yrs. old (senior in high schoold and known on this blog as "Ironman"- they are fabulous kids - I am very blessed!!!

I am an RN and have been for around 12 years.

I lift weights regularly and work abs 2-3 days a week.  I enjoy the beach, like to sing, and love to run!!!

Quit smoking about 4 years ago and couldn't run 1/4 way around a track when I began... started with elliptical and then got into running more seriously.  Cranked up the mileage and intensity when I began training for my first 1/2 marathon.  The rest is history.... or history in the making!?

Ran with my friend Abel this morning on the malecon.  I am tired.  I could feel it even before we started.  Managed to do a little interval/tempo work for some of the run and farted out toward the end.  It was so humid!!  If you can imagine running in a enclosed swimming pool area - that's how it felt - muggy!!  Hard time breathing.  I am taking a rest day tomorrow.  I have no choice- although I am happy that I don't.  Minimum of 20 miles on Saturday morning and I need to feel good for it.  That will be my last long, long run and I begin my taper starting on Sunday.  Gonna go for quality and intensity the next few weeks as I decrease mileage and the last week before the marathon I will be lessening intensity as well.  That is my game plan.  Marathon day is June 27th....

What marathon are you running on June 27th?

BTW, I read your post a couple weeks ago about your new shoes. Are the men's Pegasus shoes working out for you?(I also have wide feet (D to EE), and typically buy New Balance shoes because they are the only brand I've found that makes wide shoes for women. I had heard that I should try buying men's shoes because they are easier to find in wide widths. I never had the nerve before - but next time I'm looking for shoes I'm going to check the men's shoes!!)

Hope the humidity eases up a bit for you!

I am running the Tangamanga Marathon in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.... can't wait!! I have to say that my new running shoes are great!! My toes feel so much better and I think I may be able to wear sandals without causing people to scream by the end of August!! I still have plantar fasciitis in my right foot.... that's a different story.... but no shoe is gonna fix that!! Humidity is terrible here. I am hoping it will offset the 6000 feet above sea level marathon... we will just have to see.
