Master's Woman's Bikini contest... yes... I may just do this in the coming year if I can manage to give up beer long enough to cut!

Help to inspire others to get fit and be consistent in their training.....Continue to love running and stay injury free while I rack up the miles....

Personal:

I have been married for almost 20 years.... Dave is the only man that I think that was placed specifically on this earth to tolerate my crazy ways.

I have 2 boys - ages 9 yrs. and 18 yrs. old (senior in high schoold and known on this blog as "Ironman"- they are fabulous kids - I am very blessed!!!

I am an RN and have been for around 12 years.

I lift weights regularly and work abs 2-3 days a week.  I enjoy the beach, like to sing, and love to run!!!

Quit smoking about 4 years ago and couldn't run 1/4 way around a track when I began... started with elliptical and then got into running more seriously.  Cranked up the mileage and intensity when I began training for my first 1/2 marathon.  The rest is history.... or history in the making!?

10 miles on the treadmill.... varied speeds and inclines, but mostly fast and lung busting!!  I can still feel it when I take a deep breath!!  Wasn't in the mood to do this....but once I got going, it all came together!!!

Wanted 10 miles today, but mustered 8 (very easy pace).  I am just tuckered.  4 miles on the malecon- super humid and hard time breathing!! X-trained 30 minutes on the stationary bike and then 4 miles on the treadmill.  Ab ripper X later.... time to eat!!!

Ran with my friend Abel this morning on the malecon.  I am tired.  I could feel it even before we started.  Managed to do a little interval/tempo work for some of the run and farted out toward the end.  It was so humid!!  If you can imagine running in a enclosed swimming pool area - that's how it felt - muggy!!  Hard time breathing.  I am taking a rest day tomorrow.  I have no choice- although I am happy that I don't.  Minimum of 20 miles on Saturday morning and I need to feel good for it.  That will be my last long, long run and I begin my taper starting on Sunday.  Gonna go for quality and intensity the next few weeks as I decrease mileage and the last week before the marathon I will be lessening intensity as well.  That is my game plan.  Marathon day is June 27th....

Had no choice... had to rest today.  Worked real hard all week and I really wanted to be well rested for tomorrow's last long run.  I have reached my goal marathon weight.... happy about that.  Last long run tomorrow!!  It will be a nice break to taper and I am actually looking forward to it.  I need a bit of a mental break to re-focus.

Humid on the malecon.... I am exhausted.  20 miles at 8:43 min/mile pace.

Had a few stops along the way.  Things started falling apart around mile 16.  Pain issues.  Cut the run short at mile 20 and decided if I was going to hurt myself, that I would rather do it in the marathon and get a medal for it!! My right foot with the plantar fasciitis was screaming at me, and my right hamstring was cramping.  I am sure that was a hydration issue.  Well, it's done.  There's nothing more that I can do at this point for this marathon.  It is what it is or will be.  Taper starts tomorrow.  You know when you have trained enough when your body just won't do any more.  I am there.
