Help to inspire others to get fit and be consistent in their training.....Continue to love running and stay injury free while I rack up the miles....

Personal:

I have been married for almost 20 years.... Dave is the only man that I think that was placed specifically on this earth to tolerate my crazy ways.

I have 2 boys - ages 9 yrs. and 18 yrs. old (senior in high schoold and known on this blog as "Ironman"- they are fabulous kids - I am very blessed!!!

I am an RN and have been for around 12 years.

I lift weights regularly and work abs 2-3 days a week.  I enjoy the beach, like to sing, and love to run!!!

Quit smoking about 4 years ago and couldn't run 1/4 way around a track when I began... started with elliptical and then got into running more seriously.  Cranked up the mileage and intensity when I began training for my first 1/2 marathon.  The rest is history.... or history in the making!?

Who in their right mind would deliberately set their alarm for 5am on a sunday to go run 15 miles knowing that the last 4 will probably push them to the complete edge??  ME!! Chat with you all in a few hours.  Hoping for a good pace.  Slept like crap....

Hey all - well I did it... wasn't pleasant.  First 4 miles I ran too fast around a 8:30 pace. Next 4 miles felt better and I slowed it up a bit.  At mile 8, I ate a bug that sent me into a choking fit through mile 9.  Mile 10- I started feeling the fatigue in my legs.  The last three miles I had to keep stopping and stretching.  Felt like I had no gusto left. Time - 2hours, 25 minutes, 59 seconds.  It was slow - but it's done.  Between lack of sleep, and tough speed work this week....not a bad run considering.

My reward today for this effort?? All you can eat ribs at Munchkins, and a few beers while I hit the beach with my boys. Reward yourselves... it's actually what made me finish today. Told myself that I couldn't have those beers and ribs unless I completed the mileage!! LOL!!!

Welcome to the blog! I hope you enjoy it here and learn a lot. I certainly have. I'm chasing that BQ as well. Best wishes!

Good job today, 9:44 overall pace. You started out at darn near your 10k race pace, yes, that will zap you good!

Enjoy your reward.

Thank you all....I have to say, I am happy that I went the distance but disappointed in the time. I so appreciate the encouragement!!! Off to enjoy those ribs now... I'll be eating for you too!!! I am so ready to chow! Hope they have enough!!! LOL!!

By the way... mourning the loss of yet another toe nail between mile 1-15. Working on another loss as we speak.. that sucker hurts!!! Just committed to a 3 mile run tomorrow... I am so ready to redeem myself and kick some butt!!!! However, my friend is setting the pace... she has never run outside before and only runs about 30 mins. on the treadmill a few days a week. She will either 1) kick my butt or 2) not finish and be sore for days post run!! Ok all - what do you think? Choose 1 or 2!!! Could be quite intense for both of us!!!

I am thinking right now that I should have called myself "Hurtin' unit" instead of "Marathon Dreamer!"

Eating bugs, losing toenails, sleep deprivation. That's what it's all about.

Sounds like a marathoner to me, what with the sore quads and toenail issues! Congrats on quitting smoking--I quit around 18 months ago and know how great it feels!

Great job, you have come a long way from starting to run only a year ago. Keep up the great work. You are gonna have an awesome first marathon!
