Long-Term Running Goals:

Someday run a sub 3 hour, 30 min marathon... anything is possible!  My hopes are to continue to steadily improve and surprise a few people ;-)!

 Master's Woman's Bikini contest... yes... I may just do this in the coming year if I can manage to give up beer long enough to cut!

Help to inspire others to get fit and be consistent in their training.....Continue to love running and stay injury free while I rack up the miles....

Personal:

I have been married for almost 20 years.... Dave is the only man that I think that was placed specifically on this earth to tolerate my crazy ways.

I have 2 boys - ages 9 yrs. and 18 yrs. old (senior in high schoold and known on this blog as "Ironman"- they are fabulous kids - I am very blessed!!!

I am an RN and have been for around 12 years.

I lift weights regularly and work abs 2-3 days a week.  I enjoy the beach, like to sing, and love to run!!!

Quit smoking about 4 years ago and couldn't run 1/4 way around a track when I began... started with elliptical and then got into running more seriously.  Cranked up the mileage and intensity when I began training for my first 1/2 marathon.  The rest is history.... or history in the making!?

60 minutes on the bike at the gym and took it VERY easy. A little bit of weights done for the upper body.  Couldn't really do ab work as my left hip flexor is still sore from the race.

Walked 1.5 miles and did 7000 meter row and 1300 cranks on hand crank... trying to rest my legs as my groin is still tight and the right foot still hurts.

Walked 3 miles with no pain, biked 30 minutes easy.  Having trouble doing sit ups as it involves some hip flexor movement and it still is a bit sore when I move it.  Right foot with residual soreness in the arch.

Hate to admit it but I am injured. I am pretty sure I have strained my left groin/hip flexor. Tried to run today... got 1.5 miles and I could feel that same twinge not nearly to the same extent as at the end of my race but enough to let mr know something is up. Trying to crosstrain to keep my weight down but not much I can do when I have to avoid lifting my left leg. I rowed 5000 meters and did a 30 minute bike on the recumbant bike. I tolerate it ok. Bummed. Any healing recommendations??

Started to do some speed work.  I have a lot of work to do.  I feel out of shape.

Trying to work back into doing some incline running.  This hip flexor is surely taking its time healing but I certainly don't want to push it.  Starting to feel better.

Combination of incline and speed work.  My hip flexor is still healing but it is slowly getting better!  Weights and abs done.  Can't do my typical abs work because of the hip flexor pain so I have had to modify it with kneeling rope weighted pull downs/crunches.

Cross training today 30 minute bike, 5000 meter row, 20 minutes on the arm crank... felt very tuckered but got it done.

Today is my son's 18 th birthday.  He has become such a neat person.  He is doing a skydiving tandum jump as his gift on Saturday!  He plans to join the air force and become a para- resquer.  So proud of my boy!!!  We celebrate his birthday tomorrow with a party and lots of friends!  Looking forward to it!

Biked 10 miles in 40 minutes ... gave myself some mileage credit. Did squats and leg extensions.

Ran in the neighborhood and then continued on to the gym where I finished my workout with weights and abs... ran home.  It was warm out there today!!!

Mixed bag workout... 4 miles on the mill, then 5 minutes on the stair stepper, then 20 minutes on the cross trainer, then 20 minute hard bike of intervals for a total of 10 miles.  Some upper body weights and ab work.  Gave myself some credit for the extra stuff.
